Reference Portfolio
Most of the time, an applicant simply hands over a list of references in the hopes that you call them. Below are snippets of text taken from letters of recommendation written by professors and colleagues.
Erik Miller
Erik Miller was my professor for Computer Illustration I (Illustrator). He is a detail oriented instructor and that is something we share in common. It was a pleasure to watch him evolve from instructor to Department Chair during my time at CCBC.
Working as a student in my Computer Illustration class, Beckie exhibited work habits that consistently produced exceptional results. Beckie has an excellent eye for details, a commitment to meeting deadlines, and an immense sense of responsibility. Her creative design solutions were some of the best in the class. Beckie worked with intent and dedication.
Beckie was a leader in our class. If a student would need help with something she wouldn’t hesitate to reach out to the student and offer assistance. During critiques and discussions, Beckie was also willing to offer solid, constructive criticism to her fellow classmates, always in an effort to help and build up their work.
Beckie is a dynamic creative who can immediately contribute a strong skill set in the areas of design, marketing, and general leadership. She will no doubt add an enthusiastic and positive presence to any work environment.
David Zobel
David Zobel was my professor for Digital Imaging I (Photoshop) and Typography. He is a passionate instructor with a huge fondness for fonts.
Beckie has been a student in my Typography class in the ADiM program at the Community College of Baltimore County. Beckie possesses the qualities every professor desires from a student. Beckie is always ready for class, on time, as well as being interested in the subject matter. She is very eager to learn and challenge the ideals of design and does so with a desire and drive. Her constant desire to seek new information, new ways of seeing design and new ways approaching design has made Beckie a perfect fit for a job in Graphic Design. All of these traits are very rare to see in one person.
What impresses me most about Beckie is her consistent seeking of knowledge and how to use it in her work. Her senses of organization, structure, determination, and the ability to take criticism and learn from it are what make Beckie great as a student and future employee. I am confident that she will be a great addition to any company.
Rich Weintraub
Rich Weintraub and I worked together at Play N' Learn, Inc. for nearly 15 years. I also worked for him on two of his side businesses, DineHowardCounty.com and YourFranchiseAdvisors.
I worked with Beckie at Play N’ Learn, Inc. for many years. As director of marketing for that company, Beckie’s help and hard work helped me to make our department run very efficiently. In addition to the other duties she had with our company, she also prepared reports in many different formats so that we could monitor the effectiveness of our various marketing investments. Beckie also helped create many of our company’s marketing materials -ads, brochures, and more using her creative and desktop publishing skills. Beckie was diligent in her work and cared about the quality of her performance.
Hal Rummel
Hal Rummul was the Department Chair for the ADIM program at CCBC. I had the pleasure of being an assistant in his photography class and would help the students with note taking and editing their photos in Photoshop. I was glad I had the opportunity to know him before he retired.
As the Department Chair of the Institute of Art, Design, and Interactive Media at the Community College of Baltimore County, it has been my pleasure to get to know Beckie as a student and volunteer tutor/note-taker in many of our courses.
Beckie’s dedication, and talent make her the kind of student that keeps my interest in teaching strong. She is a real “people person,” and works very well with many different personalities and age groups.
Beckie is creative, mature, and self-motivated. I have every confidence that she will prove to be an excellent addition to your organization.
